Apliu Street aka “Hong Kong Akihabara” -- which is one of the characteristic streets in Hong Kong. In the beginning of twenty century, Hong Kong government introduced a series of reclamation projects in order to increase the land supply in Sham Shui Po, areas included Yu Chau Street, Yen Chow Street and Wong Chuk Street etc. The area between Nam Cheong Street and Yen Chow Street formerly occupied by duck sheds (ap liu), therefore named as Apliu Street. Nowadays, Apliu Street is a flea market contains all kinds of electronic products, such as electrical components, telecommunications products, car accessories, audio equipments and computer hardware etc. Due to there is everything that one expects to find, hence not only attract local people but also foreigners who love to experience the atmosphere of Hong Kong ‘Electronic Products Street’ and they may even pick up a bargain.
